radio waves

Yesterday was a busy day. In the evening, a first ever trip to Scribal Gathering – a glorious open mic night of music and poetry in Stony Stratford which is well worth checking out if you’re in the area – to be their headline poet for the night. My first poetry gig since May, what with summer being the season of music festival stage management, and what a way to kick the autumn off.

Earlier that afternoon, listeners to BBC Radio 6 will have heard me chatting with Craig Charles about my poetry, and why I write it. And sharing a couple of pieces from snapshots from the fall of home. If you missed it, or if you’d like to listen again, you’ll find it here and the interview with me starts just over one hour in to the show. Huge thanks to Craig and his team for giving me the opportunity to talk about what I do. Huge thanks, too, to everyone who listened, and then headed over to the ignitebooks.co.uk shop to buy themselves a copy of ‘snapshots’. They’re on their way, and I hope you enjoy them!

And now, it’s back to an afternoon of writing up funding applications and punting for gigs. As poets do, because – despite what we’d have you believe – our lives aren’t (quite) wall-to-wall glamour. Not yet, anyway.
